SHOW ALERT! Fun Home at Dominion Stage

I am thrilled to share that I have the honor of playing the role of adult Alison in Fun Home at Dominion Stage, a character based on Alison Bechdel herself, at age 43 as she navigates her journey as a comic book writer. While I may not be 43 yet, taking on this role has been an incredible and deeply challenging experience. It’s given me the chance to reflect on themes that resonate far beyond the stage.

As a small-town Pennsylvanian, stepping into Alison's shoes feels oddly familiar, yet new. The landscapes that shaped her childhood bring back memories of my own — the quiet farms, the majestic Appalachian Trail in the distance, and the comforting rhythm of rural life. Revisiting those moments from my own life has enriched my connection to Alison's story and the way she reflects on her own past.

One of the most compelling aspects of this role has been navigating Alison’s coming out journey and her complex relationship with her father. These intimate explorations, drawn from Bechdel’s comic, have been both comforting and eye-opening. There’s a raw honesty in the way Alison reflects on her life, and as an actor, it has been fascinating to unravel those emotions and bring them to life on stage.

Every rehearsal offers a new layer of discovery, and I can’t wait to share this powerful story with the audience. Fun Home is about family, identity, and the deeply personal process of self-discovery. It’s a journey I’m honored to take, and I hope you’ll join me as we bring Alison’s world to life.
