What a night to remember ✨

Two years ago, I was working the box office table at the #HelenHayesAwards—watching from the top balcony of The Anthem, filled with awe as I looked down at the artists and performers I admired. I remember whispering to myself, “One day, I’ll be down there—on the main floor—among them.” That night planted a seed. I was determined to become part of the DC theatre community in a real way.

Last year, that dream began to take root when I booked my first professional gig with Monumental Theatre Company—and wow, what a way to start. “American Psycho” was chaotic, intense, and wildly ambitious. It demanded every ounce of courage, adaptability, and yes… copious amounts of fake blood, sweat, and tears. But we created something unforgettable. That same show earned me my first Helen Hayes nomination—for Outstanding Ensemble. I was stunned. Honored. Finally seated on the main floor, surrounded by the artists I had long looked up to.

And then… last night happened.

The cast of American Psycho won.

I was in utter shock and honestly I'm still processing. All I can think is—I hope we made Duncan Sheik and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa proud.

To our fearless leaders:

🩸 Michael Windsor – Thank you for your daring vision. You breathed life into this twisted, electrifying world and trusted us to carry it. What an exhilarating ride.

🎶 Marika Countouris – Your musical direction was simply masterful. You transformed this score into something new, something haunting, something alive. The soundscape you helped shape became a character of its own—and our killer 80s DJ vibe? Iconic.

💃 Ahmad Maaty – Your choreography was the heartbeat of this show. You challenged me in ways I didn’t expect—physically, emotionally, artistically—and I’m a stronger performer because of it. Thank you for your trust and your brilliant, bold creativity.

To my fellow psychos—I love you all. Thank you for pouring your heart, sweat, and talent into every inch of this production. It was an honor to share the stage (and the blood packs) with you. Huge love to our incredible swings—you were our heroes when we needed you most.

Thank you to @TheatreWashington for a night I’ll never forget.

I can now officially say… I’m a Helen Hayes Award Recipient 🎭 Here’s to the dreams we dare to speak—and the wild, messy, beautiful journeys that bring them to life.
