As the curtain falls on our production of Fun Home at Dominion Stage, I find myself deeply reflective and immensely grateful for this journey. Playing the role of adult Alison Bechdel has been one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences of my career.

Portraying Alison, a 43-year-old comic book writer coming to terms with her past and her identity, pushed me to new emotional depths. It demanded vulnerability and honesty as I navigated her complex relationships and inner struggles. It was a privilege to bring her story to life, a story that resonates with anyone who has ever felt the need to hide a part of themselves.

The timing of our run during the election season added an extra layer of significance to the narrative. The themes of Fun Home – authenticity, acceptance, and the courage to live openly – felt especially poignant amidst the charged political climate. The show reminded us all of the importance of being true to ourselves, of not hiding behind metaphorical closet doors, and of living unapologetically.

Throughout this production, I was continually inspired by my castmates, crew, and the incredible audiences who shared this journey with us. Each performance was a testament to the power of storytelling and its ability to connect, heal, and empower.

As we close the chapter on Fun Home, I carry forward the lessons learned on stage. I am reminded of the strength it takes to live authentically and the impact that honesty can have on those around us. Thank you to everyone who supported this production – your presence and engagement made this experience unforgettable.

While the show may be over, its message will continue to echo in my heart and, I hope, in the hearts of those who experienced it. Here's to living truthfully, embracing our unique stories, and stepping boldly into the light.
